I learned about people from India living in Ethiopia from reading Cutting for Stone, by Abe Verghese, one of my favorite fiction writers. we think in terms of the colonized people going to the colonial mother country, but less often of them going to other countries colonized by that mother country. I was surprised to learn about Ghandi being a lawyer in South Africa when I saw the film. But South Africa is an important part of his story. Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
