Bravo for all the NaNo writers! For all the writers, period.

It takes blood, sweat, guts and heart to do what we do, on NaNo or off, with plot or without, drafts roughed or polished, published yet or not.

We’re the ones who spend our precious time at the notebook or computer throwing words on the page, making sense out of the mess we call life.

Sometimes we get cheered and clapped and read. Sometimes we have to be our own best audience, cheering and clapping for ourselves.

We know we have something to say. We may not know exactly what it is, but we know committing words to paper will help us figure it out.

So what if it’s a rough draft! Every piece of writing has to start somewhere.

In its embryonic stage it might be a mass of undifferentiated tissue till organs and muscles start to form. Or in our case, verses or characters, ideas, plots — a spine, an outline, an overarching concept, a brain. The heartbeat comes bearing the pulse of the thing….And so, a story is hatched.

We’re off and running. Or off and writing.

Hold fast, friends…you can do it!
